Announcing our new wp-config.php template editor, which gives you more control over your WP configuration

We’re pleased to announce the release of our new wp-config.php editor, which allows you to customize the template used generate your wp-config.php file. It is uncommon for someone to need to change this file. However, we received enough feedback to know that a proper editor is required. So, lo and behold, it’s here!

For those that don’t know, the wp-config.php file is the configuration backbone of each WordPress site. It tells the site how to access the database and sets the foundation for how your site behaves. As an automated/managed host, we generate this file for you whenever you install, import, copy, restore, or activate a site. In order to make this process simple, we use a template that injects configuration variables into the correct spot.

This template is now fully customizable. You can add any lines or snippets required for your individual sites.

We are also using this feature to try the open source Monaco editor (the foundation for VS Code) in our frontend. Take a look and let us know what you think!
